A land of many facets

The Essaouira hinterland

The province of Essaouira stretches across 6,335 km² south-west of Marrakech, home to roughly 500,000 inhabitants. Its tribal duality — the Chiadma to the north, the Haha to the south — weaves an exceptional cultural and landscape mosaic.

To the north — Chiadma

Semi-arid plateaus, lush valleys fed by limpid springs, alternating woodlands and sandy steppes.

To the south — Haha

A mountainous region whose cliffs plunge into the ocean from Cap Sim to Tafadna. From the ridges, panoramic views open onto the immense forest of argan and thuya.

Beyond its historic ramparts, Essaouira shelters a hinterland of wild and preserved beauty. Ancient argan forests, coastal dunes, hidden oases, Berber villages — a true sanctuary of biodiversity.
