What we have said about the Had Draa market holds true for the Idaougourd market — the only real difference is the size of the souk, a smaller version that is easier to walk.

We set off by taxi from Essaouira to reach the Idaougourd souk, an authentic Berber village that has followed the same traditions of life and work for hundreds of years. You’ll feel the beating heart of the Moroccan countryside on this immersion in a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Step into a world where time seems to have stopped. Discover the local trade of livestock, spices and fresh organic produce brought in from the surrounding villages.

The souk is also an encounter with local artisans — discover the ancestral know-how of pottery and ironwork.

We then continue our visit with very old buildings, a former sugar mill and its red ramparts, dating from the 15th century.

Our tour closes with a visit to an organic farm, on the banks of the Oued Lkseb. A truly beautiful estate, holding a wide diversity of trees and plants, where gardeners grow an impressive variety of vegetables, leaves and medicinal herbs.
